Update

I realise I am writing less and less in this blog, just lazily posting pictures that have little or no relevance to actual librarianship or, well, life. So, for an update: I am currently undergoing induction, which has me visiting the library's other departments, such as maps (Why Not to Live in Cambridge When the Ice-caps Melt,) legal deposit, official publications, rare books (don't drop that) and music (Black Sabbath for the ukelele):

When not being induced (?), I've had Lunch Duty and got serious bananagram withdrawal.I've also begun to read a book I nickname the pet-death-book. It is an old-fashioned kids book (Thomasina) which begins with a vet putting to sleep a little old lady's little old dog, continues through him hating most of his animal patients, and peaks with him chloroforming his daughters pet cat.
